Nexo does not collect your data. It has no accounts, no servers of ours, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking.
What you copy and the files you send go directly between your own devices (Mac, iPhone and Android phone), over your local Wi-Fi network, encrypted. We never see them.
Nexo is published by e404 Technology (“we”, “us”). You can reach us at [email protected].
None. Nexo does not send any personal data, usage data, diagnostics, crash reports, device identifiers or advertising identifiers to us or to anyone else. We do not sell or share personal data, because we do not have any.
The apps do not contain third-party analytics, advertising, attribution or crash-reporting software.
Nexo exists to move things between two devices that you own. When you use it:
All of this happens on your own network. Nexo does not use the internet to move your clipboard or files, and nothing passes through our servers, because we do not run any.
| Item | Where | Why | Removed when |
|---|---|---|---|
| Device identity (a cryptographic key and certificate) | Mac: Keychain. Android: Android Keystore (the key cannot be exported) | So your devices can recognise each other | You uninstall the app |
| List of paired devices (name, ID, last known network address) | On each device, inside the app’s private storage | So devices reconnect automatically | You remove the device in the app, or uninstall |
| Settings (for example whether clipboard sharing is on) | On each device | To remember your choices | You uninstall the app |
| Files you accept | Downloads/Nexo folder on the receiving device | That is the point of the transfer | You delete them |
| Files copied on the Mac for pasting on the phone | Android: the app’s private cache | So you can paste or share them | Replaced by the next copy, or when you clear the app’s cache |
| Temporary copies made while sending from the phone, and partly received files | Android: the app’s private cache. Mac: the Downloads/Nexo folder (hidden until complete) | So a transfer can finish or resume after a dropped connection | The transfer ends, is cancelled, or fails |
| Short-lived inbox for Finder “Share → Nexo” | Mac: a shared app folder | Hands chosen files from the Finder extension to the app | The transfer starts; leftovers are cleared after 24 hours |
None of this is sent to us. On Android, Nexo writes technical events to the phone’s ordinary system log (for example the name and local network address of your paired Mac when connecting, or an error message). It never writes your clipboard contents or file contents there, and the log stays on your phone.
| Permission | What it is used for |
|---|---|
| Network access (Internet), network state, Wi-Fi state | To open connections to your Mac on your local network and notice when the network changes. Nexo does not send your data to internet servers. |
| Multicast state | To discover your Mac on the network. |
| Notifications | To ask you to accept incoming files, show progress, and show that Nexo is connected. |
| Foreground service (connected device) | To stay connected to your paired Mac in the background. A persistent notification shows while it runs. |
| Receive boot completed | To restart the connection after the phone restarts, if a Mac is paired. |
Nexo does not request access to your contacts, location, camera, microphone, photos, storage, phone, SMS or accounts. Saving to the Downloads folder uses Android’s built-in file store and needs no storage permission. Scanning the pairing code uses Google’s code scanner, provided by Google Play services (see Third parties).
Nexo does not share data with third parties. The only outside component involved is on Android: the pairing-code scanner is Google’s code scanner from Google Play services. It reads the code on your phone and is governed by Google’s Privacy Policy. Nexo receives only the text of the code, not the camera image.
Apple and Google process app downloads and updates under their own policies. We do not receive your personal data from them.
No system is perfectly secure. Keep your devices updated and only pair devices you own. If you think you have found a security problem, please email [email protected].
Because we hold no data about you, there is nothing for us to delete on our side.
Nexo is a general utility and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Depending on where you live (for example under the EU/UK GDPR, India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, or California law), you may have rights to access, correct, delete or port your personal data, or to object to its processing. Since we do not collect or hold your personal data, these requests have nothing to act on, but you are welcome to contact us at the address below with any question or request and we will answer it.
If we change how Nexo handles data, we will update this page and the dates at the top before the change takes effect, and we will highlight significant changes in the app’s release notes.
